Free Baby Shower Games – Fun Doesn’t Have to Cost a Lot!
Planning a baby shower can be expensive, but this should not affect your idea of fun and entertainment because there are a lot of free games.
No doubt, you have to pay for invitations, food, and drinks, not to mention all of the work you have to do. Read on for some exciting free games:
Some incredible Free Baby Shower Games
The best games are the ones where other people do all the work! A great icebreaker game is to have each guest bring a baby picture. Be sure to tell them not to have any names or dates written on the picture. Pass around one picture at a time. After the picture has made its way around the group, have everyone guess which guest is pictured. Keep score and the one with the most correct guesses wins! This is a fun game, especially when the guests don’t all know each other very well.
Another free baby shower game is “Who’s the Baby“. Note about the “Who’s the Baby?” game: You might need to call and remind everyone to bring their photo. If you are worried that people will forget, you can have them send (or even scan and email) the photos ahead of time. Usually if you have at least 5 baby pictures, the game is a hit. Don’t forget YOUR baby photo!
Another of my favorite games is the “Don’t say baby” game. Variations include “Don’t say pregnant,” “Don’t say mom,” etc. In this game, each guest is given a diaper pin, a ribbon, or a piece of thread tied around their finger. Just use something you have around the house. When they mention the forbidden word, whoever catches them saying it gets their pin or ribbon. The person with the most pins at the end wins. Be sure to only play this game for a short period of time as it might make some people be “on guard” too much. It’s a great game to get people to interact as they will all try to catch each other saying the word.
Guessing the date or weight of the baby is always a fun game at baby showers. Give each guest a pen or pencil and slip of paper. Have them put their name and guess onto the piece of paper. Put all of the guesses in a Ziplock bag and give them to the mother-to-be to take home with her. Not only are guessing the dates and weights great games, they also give the mother something fun to put into the baby memories book to reflect on throughout the years.
Game Prizes
There are ways to get free prizes! Don’t feel bad about this – after all, you’ve already spent a lot of money here! It’s perfectly acceptable for you to find ways to save on expenses. Especially if you are already giving party favors to every guest.
The big trend lately is “decluttering” our houses. Ask all of your guests to gift-wrap an item from their home they’ve been meaning to declutter. Put all of the “clutter gifts” in a pile. As people win your games, tell them to choose a prize from the clutter pile. It works out perfectly – one woman’s clutter is another woman’s prize!
If, by any stroke of luck, your baby shower is after Christmas, ask our guests to bring something they wish to “re-gift.” You can also make it fun. You can even ask each guest to pick up something from a dollar store or garage sale.
Most guests usually want to be involved a little bit more in contributing to the shower. Letting them get creative in choosing prizes will allow them to feel a bit more involved. It’s a good idea to have some back-up clutter from your house just in case people forget or you have multiple winners for the games.
As you can see, planning a baby shower does not mean going broke. There are plenty of games that your can find at no cost that are actually entertaining and will be a lot of fun for your guests. Its all about looking smartly and finding ways and means by which your games will look price less (free depending on the way you think!) These games are perfect ways to get people to interact, relax, and most of all, celebrate a new baby together!

My sister-in-law and I were tired of playing the same ol’ games, so here is a cute one we thought up. We made a computer picture of a baby & had the local copy center blow it up to a larger size. We pasted it on a poster board that we decorated. We then made pictures of baby bottles, and left a space for the guest names. Just like pin the tail on the donkey, we played pin the bottle on the baby. We blind folded the guest , spun them around, and the one with the bottle closet to the babies mouth was the winner. You can also play it were its the hat closet to the babies head, or diaper closet to the babies bottom.
My mother threw me the most unusual baby shower. We had about 45 people show up so instead of playing tons of games (quite boring for such a large group). My mother hired a magician to entertain us. He did a lot of magic with baby props, and got me (the mother to be) in the act. It was great fun.
Also, another great baby game is the baby pool. Everyone chips in $1 and you guess what day the baby will be born, what sex the baby will be (if unknown), what time the baby will be born, the weight, and the heighth. Who every comes closes wins the kitty.
For my shower, my sister-in-law created her own game. She divided everyone up into 4 teams and each was given a bag with pretty toilet paper, a balloon, streamers, paper hearts, ribbon, headbands, bows, mini-baby rattles, etc. and they had to design a maternity outfit! I had to go around and take pictures. Then we had a fashion show and each team had to narrate their outfit. I then had to pick the winning team and I got to wear part of the outfit. It was a lot of fun and everyone really enjoyed it. One team managed to blow up their balloon so it had a belly button! Some of the other games I’ve read about are a bit corny. This one was fun!
